Founder and CEO at Yummilicious Cakes
I am Obianuju Irene Nwokedi – Enekwechi, I am an Entrepreneur, an influence, am also a baker and CEO at Yummilcous Cakes.
I run several other businesses and recently developing myself to be a motivation speaker as well as a blogger at Uju Foundation website which is a non-profit blog. The purpose of Uju Foundation is to share my experiences and raise awareness on sickle cell disease and hopefully one day turn it into a charity organisation so I will be able to support people of all ages but most importantly children and teenage developments.
I was born in Nigeria in the 80’s, came to the UK and diagnosed with sickle cell at the age of 1 year old at the time. Having sickle cell and growing up has been challenging because I am mostly in and out of the hospital however since March last year I haven’t been to the hospital, only attended few checkups and for blood transfusion even though I will soon undertake my blood exchange program.
My Sickle cell journey at times come with excruciating pain and endless complications, sometimes the conditions affects my life but I tried my best to be strong and not let it get the better part of me. Plus having a positive outlook on life has greatly helped me to achieve my goals.
I must say, God has been so good, I am a lady who love God so much that after given birth to my son in 2017, he sent me on a journey to share my story as an unexpected, unplanned and someone who’s a warrior of sickle cell disease and that I can fight through life whenever disparate situation happens. I was not meant to have Jesse let alone carry a baby in my womb, but God placed Jesse in my life not because I wanted a baby but to prove to me that his word works.
I’m not what the doctors think about but the word of God is all that matters to me no matter the situation I am going through. I encourage people and empower them especially woman who thinks life has ended for them. I like to use myself as a warrior of Sickle Cell Disease to reach out to anyone with the disease and just to let them know that life can be excited.
I’ve become so passionate about my journey/story ever since given birth to my son. My story has blessed and encouraged many people so far, other people has also shared my story. Therefore, I’m hoping to have other avenues to promote my story such creating my own YouTube Channel where I can inspire others.
I also have passion for baking as I love to bake however still doing some training to improve my skills and therefore overtime I know my skills will improve and gets better. I am also a singer in the church though still learning however I will get better so beer with me.
